[ZUN] A Fall That Only Happens a Few Dozen Times In Life
ZUN has updated his beer web log with more pictures of beer. (No, no word of a patch, so if you’re not interested in beer festivals, there’s nothing to see here.)
It’s been cold lately. My joints hurt.
So, autumn is about turning leaves … is what I’d like to say, but the leaves have turned really late this year. It’s so cold it feels like it’ll be winter by the time the leaves have all fallen.But. For me, autumn is really about that. You see, grains are harvested in October, and after a relatively short period spent brewing it’s time for that …
So, it finally came. This year is the second Machida Beer Hoppers.
It seems even Mr. Google doesn’t know much about this event, though. It’s a beer event held by a couple of my favorite pubs since last year.As you can see from the photo, I was drinking during daylight hours (tee hee)
First, you buy a ticket that lets you fill a little glass with twelve ounces of your favorite beer.
The beers range from Machida Stout, which was made specially for the event, to draught beers from all over Japan (pictured is a Goya Dry from Okinawa), as well as the usual collection of European beers.Honestly, though, 12 ounces really isn’t enough, so I ended up buying another ticket …
Drinking in the daytime has a certain feel of decadence to it, so I’d like to recommend it to aging members of society and certain types of game developers.Oh, by the way, I had draught Hoegaarden White for the first time in a while. It disappeared from all of the pubs in the area two or three months ago for some reason … Even thought it was my first in a while, the wheatiness of it didn’t really agree with me.
So, I had a bit to drink, but you need something to chase it with, and special events mean special menus. You can’t really expect to much from such a situation, but the ever-venerable Beer Hoppers had prepared a special menu.
Pictured is one of their special menu items. Kirin Ichiban Reserve Stout Beer Hoppers curry.
It’s really just regular curry. It was good, though. It was a special event, but as you can see it was pretty laid back, but every once in a while it was crowded enough to form a line and create a happy drinking atmosphere (even though it was still broad daylight).
Events with lots of people are fun, but it’s nice to go to something like this every once in a while, too.
Well, since I’ve got too much to do, it seems like I’ve been going out drinking to escape reality. Almost every day.
I have to wonder if this is environmentally friendly or not for those of us who’ve just started drinking, and I’ve decided that it is.After all, even in cars, alcohol is greener than petroleum.
